4th & 5th Grade After School Sports

The Recreation Division offers after school basketball, volleyball, and track at all Dubuque Community School District elementary schools for 4th and 5th grade students. 

The programs emphasize fundamental skills, team concepts, sportsmanship, participation, improved health/fitness and fun! After School Sports information and registration forms are distributed through the schools. Typically, basketball begins in mid-September, volleyball begins in late-January, and track begins in mid-April.

Basketball

Sept. 11 - Oct. 5, 2023

This intramural program meets for 90 minutes following school dismissal. Practices are held two times per week for four weeks. Each participant will attend up to (8) eight practices, subject to school/coach conflicts and/or weather. The program is instructed by members of the Loras College and University of Dubuque basketball teams. Cost is $30 or free if income-qualified. Registration deadline is Thursday, Sept. 7.

This intramural program meets for 90 minutes following school dismissal. Practices are held two times per week for four weeks, depending on school gym availability. Each participant will attend up to (8) eight practices, subject to school/coach conflicts and/or weather. the program is instructed by members of the Loras College Men's and Women's Volleyball teams.

Track + Field

This intramural program meets for 90 minutes following school dismissal. Practices will be held two times per week for four weeks, depending on school field & gym availability. Each participant will attend up to (8) eight practices, subject to school/coach conflicts and/or weather. The program concludes with the City-wide school track meet at Dubuque Senior High School Dalzell Field.

  1. Online Registration
    Online Registration is available 24 hours/day for most Recreation Division classes using a valid credit card. Note, you must create a WebTrac account to complete your transaction.
  2. Mail-in
    You can mail your registration to Leisure Services, 1157 Central Ave., Dubuque, IA 52001
  3. Walk-in Monday - Thursday, 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. and Friday 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., 1157 Central Ave., Dubuque, IA 52001 
  4. After Hours Drop-off
    Place your form and payment in a sealed envelope and drop it in the mail slot in the office door.


Payment

Payment must be included with any registration to be accepted. Program fees may be paid by credit card or checks payable to Leisure Services Department. Credit Card payments may be made online, in person, or by phone.

Financial Assistance

To assist low-income residents, the Leisure Services Department allows individuals or families to register for some Recreation Division programs/classes for free or at a reduced price.
