Awards and Recognition

All-America City

Dubuque was named an All-America City by the National Civic League five times in just 12 years! The All-America City award recognizes communities whose citizens work together to identify and tackle community-wide challenges and achieve uncommon results. It is the nation’s most prestigious and oldest civic recognition program.

Preservation Magazine

In 2018, Dubuque was featured in a nine-page article entitled “Heart and Soul” in the fall issue of Preservation, the magazine of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Read article.

Municipal Equality Index

Dubuque scored 100 on the 2021 Municipal Equality Index, issued by the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), in partnership with the Equality Federation Institute. The index is a ranking of municipalities across the country based on the inclusiveness of their laws, policies, and services for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) residents.
