[ARCHIVED] All Recreational Equipment Within City Parks

Dubuque Re-Opens Park Playgrounds as of June 17th. Please see information below pertaining to the Leisure Services Departmental Impacts and Closures during the COVID-19 pandemic.

UPDATED AS OF JUNE 17TH, 2020:

Effective immediately, the City of Dubuque is re-opening the playgrounds in City parks, but reminds residents to take recommended precautions to help prevent the spread of Covid-19.  Signage currently posted in parks will be updated as soon as possible, but the playgrounds can be used now.  "Additionally, it’s very important that residents be prepared for their park visit prior to leaving the house," per Leisure Services Manager Marie Ware.  "This includes taking along and using hand sanitizer and wearing a mask when you can’t social distance from others outside your household unit."  Other recommended preventative actions emphasize personal responsibility and preparing for your visit.  These include:

* Increase hygiene practices like hand-washing and covering your coughs and sneezes.

* Bring your own reusable water bottle.

* Bring table covers for picnic tables.

* Go to the restroom before leaving your home.

* When places are very busy or people are not social distancing, change your plans or choose an alternative location.

Dubuque’s park pavilions and restrooms remain closed due to City budget constraints.  Water fountains are also not available due to COVID transmission concerns.  Staff continue to evaluate considerations and options for potential opening.

UPDATED AS OF JUNE 2ND, 2020:

Tennis, Pickleball and Horseshoe Courts:  The City of Dubuque’s tennis and pickleball courts are OPEN for public use (re-opened on Wednesday, June 3rd).  Horseshoe pits at Eagle Point Park and Flora Park will also be available for use.

Basketball and Volleyball Courts:  Governor Reynolds’ proclamation still prohibits these non-school sporting or recreational activities. City courts will remain CLOSED with hoops and nets down to prohibit the activity per the proclamation.

The Leisure Services Department Adult Softball, Volleyball Leagues and Summer Basketball Leagues have been CANCELED for the 2020 summer season.

Park restrooms and water fountains are not yet accessible to the public.  Residents are welcome to visit parks and trails, but should practice physical/social distancing of at least six feet as instructed by the Centers for Disease Control and wash their hands as soon as possible after use.
