[ARCHIVED] American Red Cross Lifeguarding Classes - April 18th & April 19th

Through videos, discussions, hands-on practice, you'll learn teamwork, rescue and surveillance skills, First Aid, CPR/AED and other skills you need to work as a professional lifeguard. Successful completion results in a 2-year certificate. See below.

Openings remain in our upcoming American Red Cross Lifeguarding Classes* being held on Saturday, April 18th and Sunday, April 19th.  Fees are $180 for residents; $216 for non-residents.  *Prerequisites:  Must be at least 15 years of age.

For those students who are currently enrolled, as well as new participants who will be enrolling in our Lifeguarding Classes, our instructors (Scott and/or Kelsie) will be contacting you.  The classroom portion of the class will be available online, and once the outdoor pools are available (mid-May pending COVID-19 status), we will do the skills portion of the class.  Once the in-water skills are complete and the written tests are taken, participants will receive their certificates.

In addition, we recommend that you apply for summer employment with our City Pools.  Online applications and job listings are available at www.cityofdubuque.org/employment .  For further information, please contact Program Supervisor Janna Beau at 563-589-4315 or the Leisure Services Department at 563-589-4263.
