[ARCHIVED] American Red Cross Lifeguarding Classes held at the Dubuque Community YMCA/YWCA

Through videos/group discussion/hands-on practice, you'll learn teamwork, rescue and surveillance skills, First Aid, CPR/AED and other skills you need to work as a professional lifeguard. Successful completion results in a 2-year certificate. See below.


*FEES:  $180 (resident); $216 (non-resident)


*LOCATION:  American Red Cross Lifeguarding Classes are held at the Dubuque Community YMCA / YWCA located at 35 North Booth Street in Dubuque on the following dates/times:


*DATES:  Saturday, April 18th from 9 am to 6 pm AND Sunday, April 19th from 9 am to 5 pm.  


*Prerequisites:  Must be at least 15 years of age and pass certain swimming requirements.  Students must be present each day of training, no exceptions.


*UPDATE AS OF FRIDAY, APRIL 3RD:  The American Red Cross Lifeguarding Classes will be held at the Dubuque Community YMCA / YWCA, pending that they are still open.  With the help and guidance of the American Red Cross, they are offering some creative classes which will allow us to continue to have these courses.  We may be able to provide the students with all the course work that is needed, students can do a self-study and when the pool facilities are ready to open, certification with the skills testing can be completed, whether it be held at the Dubuque Community YMCA / YWCA, Flora Pool or Sutton Pool.  In addition, we recommend that you apply for summer employment with our City Pools.  Online applications and job listings are available at www.cityofdubuque.org/employment .
