Entries from snow sculpting teams are sought for the WINTER ARTS - 2019 Snow Sculpting Competition to be held January 23-26, 2019, in Washington Park in downtown Dubuque. The deadline for entries is Nov. 16, 2018.


The Dubuque Museum of Art, in partnership with the City of Dubuque’s Art in the Park initiative and Winterfun, Inc., announces a call for entries for the WINTER ARTS - 2019 Snow Sculpting Competition to be held January 23-26, 2019, in Washington Park in Downtown Dubuque. Teams from the state of Iowa are invited to compete for the State of Iowa title and an invitation to the 2019 U.S. National Snow Sculpting Competition in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. In addition to the state competition, there will be a community snow sculpting portion of the event offering the public an opportunity to sculpt a block of snow. The competition will be held in conjunction with Iowa Winter Games occuring at Sundown Mountain Resort.

 

Each team shall consist of three members and all must be 18 years and older. A team must have three state resident members maximum, two state resident members are acceptable.Teams will begin carving on Wednesday, January 23, and will have until noon on Saturday, January 26, to complete their sculpture. Each team is assigned(by lottery) a square shaped block of manufactured snow, 6 feet per side and 8 feet high in Washington Park sculpting site in Dubuque, Iowa.
