[ARCHIVED] Charges Filed Related to Dec. 3rd Robbery & Shooting

Dubuque Police and Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation agents have filed charges related to the December 3, 2009 robbery of Knickers Saloon, 2186 Central, and the shooting of Dubuque Police Lt. Scott Baxter.

Charges of Attempted Murder (class B felony, punishable by up to 25 years in prison), 1st Degree Robbery (class B felony, punishable by up to 25 years in prison), and Unauthorized Possession of Offensive Weapon (class D felony, punishable by up to five years in prison and a fine of $750.00-$7,500) have been filed against the suspect wounded at the scene and transported to Mercy Hospital in Dubuque for treatment. He is identified as Eddie Chest, DOB 03/29/1938, 313 N. Galena St., Freeport, IL. Chest remains hospitalized at Mercy Hospital in the custody of Dubuque Police.

Also charged in the incident with the same charges listed above for suspect Eddie Chest is Eddie Roger Adams, DOB 08/24/63, No Permanent Address. Eddie Roger Adams is a son of Eddie Chest. Adams is alleged to be the second suspect involved in the robbery of Knickers Saloon that fled from the scene southbound on Central Avenue.

Adams was taken into custody at 7:50 P.M. December 3, 2009 by Dubuque Police on a probation violation and a Dubuque County Jail three day mittimus. It was also later determined that Whiteside County, IL. held a failure to appear arrest warrant for Adams. Investigators were able to tie Adams into the Knickers robbery case through follow up of information developed throughout the investigation. Adams remains held in the Dubuque County Jail.

As with all criminal charges filed, the charges are merely an accusation and the defendants are presumed innocent until such time they are proven guilty.
