[ARCHIVED] Concert Ticket Fraud Case

On 4/12/18 the Dubuque Police Department received a report of a suspect selling fake tickets to the Willie Nelson and Family concert being held at the Five Flags Center in Dubuque on 04/13/18.

The victim in the case answered an ad on Craigslist and spoke with the suspect over the phone.  The two arranged to meet in Dubuque and the victim bought the tickets from the suspect.  The victim later learned that the tickets were fraudulent and reported the incident to Police.

Dubuque Police Investigators, posing as concert goers, called the suspect at the number listed on the Craigslist post and arranged to buy tickets.  Plain clothes investigators later met with the suspect, received the fraudulent tickets from the suspect, and placed the suspect under arrest.  The suspect attempted to run and resisted causing minor injuries to two investigators.

The suspect gave a false name but was eventually identified as Natrell G. Jackson, 20, of Chicago, IL.  Jackson was charged with two counts of Forgery, two counts of Theft in the 4th Degree, two counts of Interference with Official Acts Causing Injury, and was found to have a warrant out of Cook County, IL, for Homicide.

The Dubuque Police Department encourages anyone going to the concert tonight to contact the venue they used to purchase their tickets if they question their legitimacy.  Representatives of the Five Flags Center have advised that customers wanting their ticket reviewed can take a picture of their ticket, front and back, and send it to their website, info@fiveflagscenter.com, or send it in a message to their Facebook page.

As with any criminal case, the charges filed are allegations and any suspects are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law. If you have any information on this incident or others, please call the Dubuque Police Department at 563-589-4415 or Crime Stoppers at 800-747-0117 or 563-588-0714 (if the information leads to an arrest, the caller is eligible for a cash reward of up to $2,000).
