On June 4th, 2017, at approximately 6:04 a.m., Dubuque Police responded to Finley Hospital on the report of an adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.  Around the same time, officers were dispatched to 1555 North Grandview Avenue on the report of a disturbance. During the initial investigation, it was determined the two calls were related. Stephen A. Miles, 29, of Dubuque had been at 1555 N. Grandview when an individual shot him, causing an injury not believed to be life-threatening.  Nathaniel Z. Grover, 28, of Chicago, was identified as the alleged suspect and initially charged with Willful Injury, a Class C Felony punishable by a fine between $1,000 to $10,000 and up to 10 years in prison.  As a result of the ongoing investigation, the Dubuque County Attorney upgraded the charge to Attempted Murder, a Class B Felony punishable by up to 25 years in prison. Grover remains incarcerated in the Dubuque County Jail.

As with any criminal case, the charges filed are allegations and any suspects are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law.
