[ARCHIVED] Stabbing Suspect Arrested

On March 22nd, 2017, at approximately 3:20 p.m., Dubuque Police responded to 1913 Jackson Street on the report of a stabbing.

          On March 22nd, 2017, at approximately 3:20 p.m., Dubuque Police responded to 1913 Jackson Street on the report of a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers located 46-year-old Kyle R. Smith (no permanent address) suffering from an apparent stab wound to his leg. Smith’s injury is not life-threatening and he was transported to Mercy Hospital for treatment. The investigation revealed a disturbance developed between Smith and Sara J. Hines, 34, of 1913 Jackson Street. The disturbance escalated and culminated in Hines allegedly stabbing Smith.

          Hines was arrested and charged with Assault Using/Displaying a Dangerous Weapon, an aggravated misdemeanor punishable by a fine between $625 and $6,250, and incarceration up to 2 years. She is being held in the Dubuque County Jail pending her initial court appearance.
