[ARCHIVED] Applications Being Accepted for the Dr. Doug Butzier Emergency Responder Scholarship

Are you or someone you know currently attending college to become an emergency responder?

Applications are now being accepted for the Dr. Doug Butzier Emergency Responder Scholarship. Following the untimely death of Dr. Butzier in 2014, a scholarship was created to honor him and support students pursuing a career as an emergency responder - whether it’s to become an EMT, paramedic, fire fighter, or law enforcement officer. The scholarship is intended for Dubuque County residents or emergency responders working/volunteering in Dubuque County, who are also entering their second or subsequent year of academic training in the above fields, while maintaining a 3.0 (or above) grade point average during the 2nd semester & beyond.

Applicants should submit the application (available at: dubuquecountyfire.org/news.cfm), along with the following supporting documents: a copy of college transcript(s), letter of reference, and an essay detailing why the applicant is interested in emergency services. The above documents should be mailed to:

Attn: Dubuque County Emergency Responder Scholarship

Dubuque County Emergency Responder Training Facility (DCERTF)

14928 Public Safety Way

Dubuque, IA 52002-8216

The scholarship winner will be invited to receive recognition at the annual DCERTF dinner and fundraiser on May 5, 2017. Applications must be postmarked by March 31, 2017.
