[ARCHIVED] Pedestrian Struck by Motor Vehicle

On Tuesday, November 22nd, 2016, at 7:15 p.m., Jeremy S. Maus, 44, of Hampton, NH, was walking westbound in the crosswalk at 17th & White Streets, in compliance with the pedestrian walk signal.

Uriah A. Van Ostrand, 22, of 2265 Francis Street, Dubuque, was eastbound on 17th Street in a 2015 Dodge Ram truck and turned northbound in the intersection with White Street. Van Ostrand failed to see or yield to Maus and struck him. Maus suffered serious injuries and was transported to Finley Hospital. He was later airlifted to the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics where his current condition is unknown. Van Ostrand was cited for Failure to Yield to a Pedestrian in a Crosswalk. The investigation remains ongoing.
