[ARCHIVED] Additional Charge Filed in Stabbing Investigation

Joseph L. Wright charged with Attempted Murder for his alleged involvement in the stabbing of Derrick Tye on September 7th, 2009.

As a result of the ongoing investigation into the stabbings on September 7th, 2009, in the 1600 block of White Street in Dubuque, a charge of Attempted Murder has been filed on Joseph L. Wright 12/24/88 of Chicago, IL. Joseph Wright remains incarcerated in the Dubuque County Jail along with his brother, Jerel L. Wright 09/16/90 of Dubuque, who was also charged with Attempted Murder relating to this incident. These charges pertain to Joseph and Jerel’s alleged involvement in the stabbing of Derrick Tye, 23, of Dubuque. Tye was treated for his injuries at a local hospital and has since been released.

Attempt to Commit Murder is a Class B Felony and carries a maximum prison term not to exceed 25 years. The investigation is active and the possibility of additional charges being filed still remains.

As with any criminal case, the charges filed are allegations and any suspect(s) charged are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law.
