[ARCHIVED] Police Investigate Shooting

On January 3rd, 2016, at 11:43 p.m., Dubuque Police and Fire personnel responded to 942 Main Street on the report of an injured child. The first officer on scene located several individuals inside the residence, including the injured child.

As paramedics were caring for the child, they determined the injury was consistent with a gunshot wound. The child, a boy due to turn 3 years of age in February, was transported to Finley Hospital and later air-lifted to the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City where his current condition is unverified. The weapon believed to be involved was recovered and seized. The investigation remains ongoing and no charges have been filed at this time. The general public is not in any danger pertaining to this incident.
