[ARCHIVED] Dubuque K-9 Unit Honored at National Event

Dubuque Police Officer Brian Wullweber and his K-9 partner, Doerak participated recently in the 2009 K-9 Olympics.

The K-9 Olympics is an annual recertification and competition held at Vohne Liche Kennels in Indiana, where K-9 teams from the United States compete in a three day event. Teams include a variety of other agencies, including other police departments from very large cities, state agencies, and United States government agencies. A record 80 K-9 teams entered this year, including United States Secret Service, National Security Agency, Department of Defense, and the Pentagon Police. The Dubuque Police Department K-9 Unit placed very well and their finish is indicative of the continual support for our K-9 unit from both the department, and our community. Placement is as follows:

2nd Place, Overall Team Patrol
4th Place, Obedience
5th, Open Area Narcotics Search
7th, 1.5 Mile Obstacle Course
11th, Patrol

Please see the Dubuque Police Department web page for more information on our K-9 Unit. The K-9 page can be found in the Special Initiatives section.
