[ARCHIVED] Robbery Suspect in Custody

On March 17th, 2014, at 10:11 p.m. Dubuque Police responded to the area of 2nd and Main Street on the report of a disturbance involving shots fired and a vehicle crash. Upon arrival officers met with a cab driver who reported being the victim of an armed robbery inside his cab, during which he discharged his legally carried firearm in self-defense. A second cab driver in the area attempted to intervene and stop the robbery by crashing his cab into the victim’s cab. After a brief struggle with the cab drivers, the suspect fled the area but has now been taken into custody by Dubuque Police. A 1st Degree Robbery charge is pending and the suspect’s identity will be released in the near future.

As with any criminal case, the charges filed are allegations and any suspects are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact the Dubuque Police Department at 563-589-4415.
