DUBUQUE, IOWA – A plugged sanitary sewer pipe located in the street in the 500 block of Samuel Street caused untreated wastewater to flow down the street and into a nearby storm sewer intake.
The City of Dubuque Public Works Department was notified by the public around 8:45 a.m. this morning of a possible sanitary sewer overflow from a manhole located on Samual Street. Crews were dispatched to the area and were able to remove the blockage from the line by 9:30 this morning. Additional inspection of the line continues at this time to identify the cause of the blockage.
The Iowa Department of Natural Resources cautions people to keep their children and pets away from the posted area for forty-eight (48) hours.
