[ARCHIVED] Plugged Pipe Causes Sanitary Sewer Overflow in Dubuque

DUBUQUE, IOWA – A plugged sanitary sewer pipe located in a grassy area near Futuro Court on Dubuque’s west side caused untreated wastewater to flow onto the nearby ground for a short distance.

The City of Dubuque Public Works Department was notified by the public at Noon today of an odor in the area and a sewer maintenance crew immediately located and ended the overflow. The crew then applied lime to the nearby ground, which had absorbed all of the overflow, and posted the area.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources cautions people to keep their children and pets away from the posted area for forty-eight (48) hours.
