[ARCHIVED] "Man With Gun" Call Resolved Peacefully

On September 25th, 2013, at 12:16 p.m. Dubuque Police responded to a residence near the intersection of Glen Oak and Rosedale Street on the report of an adult male in a backyard armed with a gun.

On September 25th, 2013, at 12:16 p.m. Dubuque Police responded to a residence near the intersection of Glen Oak and Rosedale Street on the report of an adult male in a backyard armed with a gun. Upon arrival officers confirmed the report and affirmed the male’s behavior as consistent with someone considering harming himself. A lockdown of schools in the immediate area was recommended as a precautionary measure, although some were already in the process of early dismissal. Responding officers quickly established a perimeter, thus containing the incident to the backyard referenced above. Rosedale Street was blocked at W. Locust and Wood Streets, and Glen Oak Street was blocked at Edina Street. Officers spent approximately 45 minutes talking to the man before he disarmed himself and surrendered peacefully at 1:16 p.m. He was transported to Mercy Hospital for evaluation. No one was injured during the incident and no charges are pending at this time.
