[ARCHIVED] Sanitary Sewer Overflow Addressed

A plugged sanitary sewer pipe caused an overflow of untreated wastewater onto the ground in a wooded area north of Dodge St. and east of University Ave. and into the north fork of the Catfish Creek. Keep children and pets away from the area for 48 hours.

The City of Dubuque Public Works Department was notified by the public of an odor in the area and a crew located the overflow around 9:00 a.m. this morning. Additional help and equipment was dispatched to the area to remove the plug and route the untreated wastewater back into the sanitary sewer system.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources cautions people to keep their children and pets away from the noted area, which is posted, for forty-eight (48) hours.
