On June 12th, 2013, at approximately 2:00 a.m., Dubuque Police received notification from the University of Wisconsin Platteville Campus Police of a campus vehicle that had been stolen from their Heating Plant. The vehicle was described as a blue 1995 Chevrolet Astro van bearing a red Wisconsin state-owned license plate. At 3:46 a.m., a Dubuque Police Officer observed the van near West 17th and Heeb Streets. As the officer turned around to stop the vehicle, it fled at a high rate of speed. The pursuit continued on Dodge Street to the Freemont/Grandview off-ramp where the van crashed and the driver fled on foot. A foot pursuit ensued, during which the driver attempted to hide near St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church but was apprehended by the Dubuque Police K9. The suspect, identified as Andre Iceson York, 21, of 87 East Main Street #2, Platteville, WI, was transported to Mercy Hospital by City Ambulance where he was treated and released for non-life-threatening injuries.

York remains incarcerated in the Dubuque County Jail on charges of Theft 2nd (by possession), Felony Eluding, Operating While Intoxicated, Interference with Official Acts, No Driver’s License, Red Light Violation, eleven Stop Sign Violations, and Failure to Maintain Control.

As with any criminal case, the charges filed are allegations and any suspect(s) charged are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law.
