[ARCHIVED] Crashes Under Investigation

On May 20th, 2013, at 7:01 p.m., Dubuque Police and Fire personnel responded to the 1500 block of Main Street on the report of a child struck by a motor vehicle.

On May 20th, 2013, at 7:01 p.m., Dubuque Police and Fire personnel responded to the 1500 block of Main Street on the report of a child struck by a motor vehicle. The investigation revealed Edgar D. Joel, 3, of Dubuque, ran east into the street and was struck by a northbound vehicle operated by Donald M. Makovec, 02/22/54, of 2975 Davenport Street, Dubuque. Joel suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics where he remains a patient.

Approximately 6 hours later, at 12:53 a.m. on May 21st, 2013, Dubuque Police and Fire personnel responded to the 1300 block of South Grandview Avenue on the report of a motorcycle crash. The investigation revealed Cory A. Bailey Sr., 05/16/83, of 157 West 23rd Street, was southbound on South Grandview when he struck a legally parked, unoccupied vehicle registered to Kyle H. Grant, 04/16/89, of 1375 S. Grandview Ave. Bailey suffered serious injuries was also airlifted to the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics where he remains a patient.

Both crashes remain under investigation and no charges have been filed.
