From June 1st, 2012 through August 24th, 2012, area law enforcement officers served 603 warrants in Dubuque and Dubuque County. The service of these 603 warrants resulted in the arrest of 372 individuals. 279 of the warrants were for Felonies or Aggravated Misdemeanors.
A significant portion of these warrants were served as part of Operation Falcon (Federal And Local Cops Organized Nationally) - a multi-agency, (nationwide) fugitive apprehension operation involving the U.S. Marshals (coordinators), FBI, Iowa DCI, Iowa State Patrol, Iowa Probation/Parole, Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office and the Dubuque Police Department. The resources of federal, state, city and county law enforcement agencies are combined to locate and apprehend criminals wanted for crimes of violence. Since its inception in 2005, Operation Falcon has made 91,086 arrests and cleared 117,874 warrants and is the single most successful initiative aimed at apprehending violent fugitives in U.S. law enforcement history. Locally, six individual operations were conducted, the first occurring on June 1st and the last on August 24th. On average, 20.67 warrant arrests were made each day an operation was conducted with the most warrants served on a single operation day being 31.
