The public is invited to participate in the “Spring Cleaning: Stream Cleanup” on Saturday, May 30th. Join other volunteers for a fun outdoor workday, while helping to protect the local waterways.

Volunteers will register by signing a waiver of liability at 10 am. Any person under 18 must have a parent/legal guardian sign the waiver before the commencement of the cleanup.

Cleanup participants will walk along a 1-mile section of either the Bee Branch or North Fork Catfish Creek. Along the way, volunteers will remove pop cans, plastic sacks,
tires, shopping carts and other pieces of trash they find in the creek’s waters and banks.

The cleanup will last until 2 p.m. Organizers will provide gloves, safety vests, trash and recycle bags as well as trash tongs. Volunteers should expect to walk on un-even terrain throughout the day. Additionally, volunteers should dress for the weather and are encouraged to wear old “river shoes”, waders, or boots and understand getting wet is to be expected.

This event is being hosted by the City of Dubuque, Engineering Department and local environmental group, Keep Dubuque County Clean and Green. Sandwiches and refreshments will be provided following this event.

Space is limited so please RSVP with Andrew McDonnell at (563) 589-4270 or enintamc [at] cityofdubuque [dot] org.
