[ARCHIVED] Saturday Changes for Keyline: Same Service, Different Bus

In an attempt to reduce emissions and contribute to the City of Dubuque’s sustainability efforts, Keyline Transit will be making a slight change to its Saturday transit service by incorporating its minibus fleet.

This change to minibuses will affect all routes, except the Redline, and will start Saturday, September 4, 2010. The decision to switch to a lighter duty bus is estimated to save the City over $14,000 a year in fuel costs. It will also reduce the City’s carbon footprint by removing the larger bio-diesel buses from the streets and replacing them with more fuel-efficient vehicles. The paratransit service will continue to operate as usual on Saturdays.

“This change will result in cost-savings and reduced environmental impact, without impacting services to Keyline customers,” said Economic Development Director Dave Heiar. “We look forward to more ‘win-win’ improvements like this as we continue to work with ECIA to improve Keyline’s level of service and bottom line.” ECIA’s management contract for Keyline began July 1.
