Events are FREE unless otherwise indicated. No events, except for the playground carnival, will be rescheduled due to the weather.
June 15th - Skate-dance at Skate Country. 7:00 to 11:00 p.m. A fee will be charged for entry.
June 16th - Open house at each city playground. Games and activities will be provided.
June 23rd - Water carnival at Sutton Pool. A variety of races for ages 5 through 14. Events begin at 6:30 p.m.
June 26th - The Recreation Division, along with the DNR and Theisen’s, will be cosponsoring a kids' fishing clinic and derby at Miller Riverview Park, for ages 5 through 14. Registration begins at 9:00 a.m., followed by the clinic and derby.
June 30th - Sidewalk chalk art at Allison-Henderson Park. Children ages 3 through 14 are invited to decorate a sidewalk square. Registration 6:00 p.m., with event following.
June 30th - Frisbee disc contest at disc golf course at Veterans’ Memorial Park. Children age 8 and older. Registration 6:00 p.m., with event following.
July 2nd - Independence Day kids’ parade at Comiskey Park playground. Preparations begin at 9:30 a.m. with parade following.
July 7th - Tot Olympics at Allison-Henderson Park, for ages 3 through 5. Registration 6:00 p.m., with event following.
July 11th - Family pool party. Families, minimum of one adult and one child, are invited to a pool party that includes a DJ providing music, games, contests and pool activities. The party meets from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. at Sutton Pool. A $10 fee per family is charged upon entrance.
July 13th - Skate-dance at Skate Country. 7:00 to 11:00 p.m. A fee will be charged for entry
July 14th - City-wide dodge ball tourney at Allison-Henderson Park, for ages 8 through 14. Tourney begins at 6:30 p.m. Sign up at your neighborhood playground to participate.
July 14th - Big Wheel 500 (big wheels and similar riding toys) at Allison-Henderson Park inline rink, for ages 3 through 8. Races begin at 6:30 p.m. Ribbons will be awarded to all who participate.
July 21st - Water carnival at Flora Pool. A variety of races for ages 5 through 14. Events begin at 6:30 p.m.
July 28th - City-wide playground carnival, at Allison-Henderson Park, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Fun-filled evening for all ages. A variety of booths, refreshments and drawings for prizes throughout the evening. A minimum fee will be charged.
August 4th - City-wide amateur night at Allison-Henderson Park, upper patio. Show begins at 6:30 p.m. Bring your blanket and talent and join the fun.
August 5th - Bus trip to Lost Island Water Park in Waterloo for ages 10 and older. Details available in the Recreation Division office after June 1st. Sign up on a first-come, first-served basis, with a July 30th deadline. A fee will be charged.
August 15th - Youth / family triathlon. Children up to 18 years of age and families can demonstrate their fitness by swimming, biking and running in this fun event. Distances will be adjusted by age groups. A registration fee will apply, with forms being available beginning June 1st.
