[ARCHIVED] Reception for Retiring Water Department Manager

The public is invited to attend a retirement reception for former Water Department Manager Bob Green on Thursday, Jan. 12, 2017, from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. in the River Room at the Grand River Center, 500 Bell St. A short program will be held at 6 p.m.


Green will retire on Dec. 31, 2016, after more than 24 years with the City of Dubuque.  Green began employment with the City of Dubuque in June 1992 as the Water Plant Manager, supervising water plant operations and assisting with water distribution operations.  He was named Water Department Manager in November 1994 and was responsible for both water treatment and distribution operations. He holds a Grade IV Water Treatment and Grade IV Water Distribution License with the State of Iowa. Bob has served as the Iowa American Water Works Association Region I Chairperson, Iowa American Water Works Water Utility Council Chairperson, and board member of the Iowa Section of the American Water Works from 2006-2012, serving as chair in 2011.  He has also been a conference speaker on the state and national level for the American Water Works Association. He received the 2016 Award for Outstanding Service to AWWA-IA in October.

City of Dubuque Water Plant Manager Denise Ihrig was appointed as Green’s successor and will become water department manager on Jan. 1, 2017.
