[ARCHIVED] Carfentanil Warning

The Dubuque Drug Task Force is seeing indications that Carfentanil is starting to hit the streets in the Tri-State area. Carfentanil is 100 times more potent than fentanyl, which itself is 50 times more potent than heroin.

Use and improper handling of carfentanil, fentanyl or other fentanyl compounds can have deadly consequences.

Carfentanil and fentanyl are often mixed with heroin to increase it’s potency. In the Dubuque area, these drugs appear in the form of a white to tan powder.

The Dubuque Drug Task Force is asking the community to be vigilant and cautious when dealing with any substance believed to be fentanyl or carfentanil and to contact law enforcement with any information about this drug in our community.
