The City of Dubuque will host public input meetings during the month of March to gather additional input on the potential locations of a proposed new skate park. See below for more information:
Following public input meetings held in November and December of 2015, three (3) potential locations were identified: Flora Park at 2605 Pennsylvania Avenue, Usha Park at 3937 Pennsylvania Avenue and within the Lower Bee Branch Creek Restoration Project near 15th Street and Pine Street.
Meetings will be held to provide information to and gather input from those interested in the locations being considered. The same information will be presented at all of these meetings. No final decisions regarding location will be made at any of the meetings. Two sample concepts of the skate park will also be available for viewing.
The public is invited to attend the following meeting:
6:30–8:30 pm, TONIGHT (Wednesday, March 23rd) in the Irving Elementary School Multi-purpose/Lunch Room, 2520 Pennsylvania Avenue
(NOTE: A meeting was held on Thursday, March 10th at Hempstead High School and on Wednesday, March 16th at the Comiskey Center.)
Those unable to attend a meeting can provide input through an online form on the City’s website at www.cityofdubuque.org\skatepark.
The City has committed $600,000 to the completion of the project and has also challenged a local parent and skate park user group to raise an additional $200,000, which would give the project a total budget of $800,000. Additional background on the proposed project is available at www.cityofdubuque.org/skatepark.
