On June 9th, 2015, at 10:00 a.m., Dubuque Police and Fire Departments responded to 2155 Clarke Drive for a welfare check after the Dubuque 911 Center received a call indicating someone within the residence might be deceased.
Upon arrival, officers established contact with the caller, Robert C. Stern, 62, of the above address. Robert directed officers to a bedroom where they located a deceased adult female, later identified as Robert’s daughter, Kimberly L. Stern, 27, also of 2155 Clarke Drive. Investigators responded to the scene and confirmed the death as suspicious in nature as Kimberly appeared to have suffered multiple gunshot wounds. As part of the initial investigation, Robert was interviewed and ultimately admitted to shooting Kimberly.
Robert was arrested and charged with First Degree Murder, a Class A Felony, punishable by life in prison. He is currently in the Dubuque County Jail awaiting his initial court appearance before a judge.
As with any criminal case, the charges filed are allegations and any suspects are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law.
