[ARCHIVED] Warrant Arrest Results in Drug Seizures

On Tuesday, November 25th, shortly after 3:00 p.m., a Dubuque Police Officer observed Lemuel D. Taylor, 10/27/89, of Dubuque, inside a vehicle at Hardee’s, 2196 University Avenue, and knew there was an arrest warrant (Failure to Appear –Eluding) for him.

Officers approached Taylor and placed him under arrest. During this process, Taylor was found in possession of 49.6 grams of cocaine and a small quantity of marijuana. The driver of the vehicle, Derian J. Phillips, 05/02/95, of Scales Mound, IL, was also in possession of marijuana (15 grams) and drug paraphernalia. In addition to the arrest warrant, Taylor faces charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver. Phillips was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Both were arrested and transported to the Dubuque County Jail. This morning, after making an initial court appearance, Taylor was held on a $20,000 bond and Phillips was released on a $2,000 signature bond.

As with any criminal case, the charges filed are allegations and any suspects are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law.
