On December 15th, 2013, at 7:44 a.m., Dubuque Police responded to the Amoco/BP convenience store at 1215 East 16th Street on the report of an armed robbery. Upon arrival, employees advised officers they had just been robbed at gunpoint. No injuries were reported and the suspect fled prior to police arrival with an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect was last seen running toward Wendy’s Restaurant immediately adjacent to the Amoco/BP.

Based on witness accounts, as well as surveillance & traffic cameras, police were able to develop a suspect vehicle and license plate number. The vehicle is registered to Chad K. Reuter, 35, of Bloomington, WI. Grant County deputies located Reuter in front of his residence on the 16th at approximately 10:30 a.m. Reuter agreed to an interview with Dubuque PD investigators, who also applied for, and were granted, search warrants for Reuter’s vehicle and residence. The interview and search warrants produced evidence implicating Reuter in the robbery. He was subsequently arrested and charged with 1st Degree Robbery.

First Degree Robbery is a Class B Felony punishable by up to 25 years in prison. Reuter remains in the custody of the Grant County (WI) Sheriff's Department, awaiting extradition to Dubuque County.

As with any criminal case, the charges filed are allegations and any suspects are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law.
