The Leisure Services Department provides an after-school sports program to fourth and fifth grade students conducted at a number of Dubuque public elementary schools.
AFTER-SCHOOL BASKETBALL. This intramural program will meet for 90 minutes following school dismissal and will emphasize learning basketball fundamentals, team concepts, sportsmanship, participation, improved health/fitness and fun! Practices will be held Monday-Thursday (twice per week) beginning this week (January 30th). Each participant will attend up to six practices and play in one game at the end of the season. Basketball practice schedules have been emailed to parents. The after-school basketball game schedules will be emailed to parents the week of Parent/Teacher Conferences (week of February 20th). Unfortunately due to low enrollment, the after-school basketball program at Fulton and Prescott Schools has been canceled.
AFTER-SCHOOL TRACK & FIELD. This intramural program will meet for 90 minutes following school dismissal and will emphasize learning track and field fundamentals, team concepts, sportsmanship, participation, improved health/fitness and fun! Practices will be held Monday-Thursday (twice per week) beginning the week of April 10th. Each participant will attend up to six practices and conclude with an City-wide track meet held at Dubuque Senior High School, Dalzell Field on Thursday, May4th. (Make-up track date will be Friday, May 5th, in the event of a cancelation due to the weather.) After-school track registration is now available. Entry fee is $20.
