The Dubuque Drug Task Force (DDTF) received information today of a possible active meth lab in the city of Dubuque operating at 2283 White St., believed to be a vacant residence.
The Dubuque Drug Task Force (DDTF) received information today of a possible active meth lab in the city of Dubuque operating at 2283 White St., believed to be a vacant residence. Permission to search the residence was received from the property owner and at approximately 9:30 A.M. members of the DDTF entered the residence for the purpose of searching for the alleged lab. Task Force Agents located an active meth lab in the basement of the residence.
Located with the meth lab was Julie A. Uhrig, 52, of Dubuque. Uhrig was arrested and charged with a class C felony violation of Manufacture of Methamphetamine. Uhrig is being held in the Dubuque County Jail and will make an initial court appearance on the charge on Tuesday, February 21st. A class C felony under Manufacture of Methamphetamine is punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a fine of not less than $1,000 and not exceeding $50,000.
The Dubuque Fire Department Hazardous Materials Unit was called to the scene to assist with decontamination of Ms. Uhrig, and a Dubuque Fire Department Engine Company stood by while members of the DDTF neutralized and removed the meth lab from the basement area of the residence. The DDTF has made arrangements for the disposal of the components of the meth lab.
As with any criminal case, the charges filed are allegations and any suspect(s) charged are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law.
