[ARCHIVED] Arrest Made Following Road Ranger Robbery

On September 8th, at approximately 2:18 a.m., Dubuque Police received a report of a robbery at the Road Ranger convenience store located at 2175 Central Avenue.

On September 8th, at approximately 2:18 a.m., Dubuque Police received a report of a robbery at the Road Ranger convenience store located at 2175 Central Avenue. Responding officers located an individual matching the suspect description in the area. The suspect fled from officers but was apprehended at 1823 ½ White Street and identified as Benjamin L. Cummings, 21, of that address. The ensuing investigation, which included the execution of a search warrant, yielded sufficient probable cause to charge Cummings with Robbery in the 2nd Degree. Robbery 2nd Degree is a Class C Felony punishable by up to 10 years incarceration and a fine between $1,000 and $10,000. Cummings remains in the custody of the Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office on a $25,000 cash bond. No one was injured during the robbery and no weapon was displayed.

As with any criminal case, the charges filed are allegations and any suspect(s) charged are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law.
