MiniBus

The Jule offers alternative transportation options for elderly and disabled passengers who are unable to use the fixed route bus system. The MiniBus is a door-to-door public transportation service offered by The Jule for seniors and qualifying individuals under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) or seniors (age 65 and older). MiniBus service operates at all times fixed route service is available. Rides can be requested to and from any location within the City of Dubuque or East Dubuque. The Bus Operator is available to assist the passenger with boarding and disembarking the vehicle and securing mobility devices in the vehicle. Passengers requiring additional assistance may have a personal care attendant travel with free of charge.   • Monday through Friday, 5:45 a.m. - 7:15 p.m.
  • Saturday, 8:15 a.m. - 5:45 p.m.
  • Sunday, no service

  • One-way Trip - $3

How to Apply for Seniors (age 65 and older)

  1. Complete, sign, and return the MiniBus Application Package for Seniors with a photocopy of your government issued ID. Anyone with a complete application on file who is over 65 and lives in the service area is automatically approved.
  2. You will receive an acceptance letter from The Jule as well as information regarding the MiniBus services.

How to Apply for ADA

  1. Complete, sign, and return the MiniBus Application Package for ADA. You will be eligible for temporary service while your application is reviewed and processed. If your application has previously been denied, you will not receive temporary service.
  2. The medical provider you noted in your authorization form will be contacted to provide verification of the status of your disability. Please let your doctor know they will receive a request for information from The Jule.
  3. You will receive a letter from The Jule noting your status as approved or denied. The letter will provide additional explanation of eligibility criteria, and your status. The letter will also provide information regarding the appeal process.

Nonemergency Medical & Waiver Transportation

Iowa Medicaid members with full benefits and clients with Medicaid Waiver benefits may qualify for non-emergency medical and/or Waiver-approved transportation. To determine your benefits and transportation provider, please contact the Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT).

Contact your Medicaid Managed Care Organization (MCO) to see if you qualify.

DuRide is a non-profit partner of The Jule which provides door-through-door transportation for seniors who cannot or choose not to drive.

Schedule a Ride

Trips must be scheduled at least 1 day in advance, but may be requested up to 14 days in advance. When requesting your ride, please remember to schedule a return trip if necessary. 

  1. Call The Jule MiniBus dispatch office at 563-690-6464 during regular service hours, or
  2. Complete a trip request form online. The same timelines and office hours apply.

If you are a nursing home or care facility scheduling multiple passengers for multiple trips, please fill out a Multi-Trip MiniBus Reservation Form and fax the form to 563-589-4340.

If you believe you have been discriminated against due to a disability, please review and complete the ADA Complaint Process and Form.

DuRide

DuRide is a non-profit partner of The Jule which provides transportation for throughout Dubuque, East Dubuque, and Asbury for residents who are 65 years or older who cannot or choose not to drive. This door-through-door service assists passengers with steps, heavy doors, mobility devices, and carrying packages. DuRide allows seniors to maintain their independence and stay connected with the community.
