Apply Now for City of Dubuque Arts and Culture Operating Support & Special Project Grants

DUBUQUE, Iowa -- The City of Dubuque and the Dubuque Arts and Cultural Affairs Advisory Commission are now accepting competitive applications from all interested parties for operating support and special projects grants for the fiscal year (FY) 2020 grant cycle, which runs July 1, 2019, through June 30, 2020.  
 
The deadline to apply for an Operating Support Grant Thursday, Feb. 28, 2019.  The deadline to apply for a Special Project Grant is Friday, March 29, 2019.  Information on how to apply, guidelines, tips, and applications are available at www.cityofdubuque.org/artsgrants.
 
Since 2005, the City of Dubuque has awarded over $3.1 million to area arts and culture organizations and other non-profits for programs that reach thousands of Dubuque adults and children each year. In addition, these funds have leveraged other community support for arts and culture events and programs, both in cash and in kind.  
 
The operating support fund is designed to assist 501(C) (3) arts and cultural organizations located in the city of Dubuque that primarily serve Dubuque residents with year-round arts and culture events, programs, and services and can demonstrate a record of programmatic and administrative stability.
 
The special projects fund is designed to fund creative and artistic projects that a have a strong community engagement focus. These grants are intended to fund arts and cultural projects that are unique and innovative and offer diverse communities an opportunity to be inspired and participate in the quality programing. There is a significant focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion and grantees will be required to engage diverse audiences.
 
All applicants are highly encouraged to attend or send a representative to a grant workshop to receive additional information on the grant programs. Two workshops will be held, and both workshops will cover the requirements for both operating support and special project grants.  Workshops will be held at 12 noon on Monday, February 4, and 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 6, at the Multicultural Family Center (1157 Central Avenue).
 
Applications must be submitted through an online form available at www.cityofdubuque.org/artsgrants. The deadline for operating support submissions is 11:59 pm on Thursday, Feb. 29, 2019. The deadline to apply for a special project grant is 11:59 pm on Friday, March 29, 2019.  All grant applications are scored by an unaffiliated review panel.  Funding schemes are appointed by the Arts and Cultural Affairs Advisory Commission in a blind review and final approval is issued by the City Council.
