DUBUQUE, Iowa – On Christmas Day, CityChannel Dubuque will premiere a program that highlights the natural beauty of the Dubuque Arboretum & Botanical Gardens and the dedication of the hundreds of volunteers whose efforts have shaped that natural beauty.

“The Magic of Garden & Grove” airs on CityChannel Dubuque (cable channel 8 or digital 117.2) on Christmas Day at 1 p.m. and repeats New Year’s Eve at 8 p.m. The program will also stream live and be archived on the City’s website at www.cityofdubuque.org/media.

The program presents stunning visual scenes recorded at the arboretum in all four seasons of the year, accompanied by natural sounds recorded on location and relaxing music.  Interwoven throughout the program are the voices of arboretum volunteers and staff talking about the work they do and the satisfaction they get in their time at the arboretum.

The program features video recorded by City of Dubuque Cable TV Division staff over the years.  It includes several 360-degree segments that capture the complete view one gets when enjoying particular areas of the arboretum.  “This is an unhurried program,” said City of Dubuque Cable TV Coordinator Craig Nowack.  “We’ve tried to give each scene enough screen time so viewers can take in all there is to see.”

In addition to CityChannel Dubuque, the City also originates a second government access channel on cable channel 80 or digital 117.3.  This channel presents City information and downtown weather data around the clock with audio from the NOAA weather radio station serving Dubuque.
