DUBUQUE, Iowa – A clogged sanitary sewer manhole in an off-road area near the end of Southern Avenue caused untreated wastewater to enter the Catfish Creek.

The City of Dubuque Public Works Department discovered the overflowing sanitary sewer manhole this afternoon (Friday, Dec. 14) at 1:30 p.m.  Crews worked to remove the blockage from the manhole and flow was directed back into the pipe by 3:00 p.m.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources cautions people to keep their children and pets away from the noted area, which is posted, for forty-eight (48) hours.
