Growing Sustainable Communities Conference Keynotes

The 11th annual Growing Sustainable Communities Conference was held last week at the Grand River Center.  CityChannel Dubuque recorded the three keynote addresses during the two-day affair and will premiere all three this week (Mediacom cable channel 8 or digital 117.2 and on the City’s website).

Former Iowa Governor and U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack kicked things off with a talk about some of the water issues he’s faced in his public life.  His keynote runs 50 minutes and airs first tonight (Monday, October 8) at 9 p.m.

Dr. Marccus D. Hendricks works in urban studies and planning at the University of Maryland, College Park, and spoke very eloquently about growing sustainable communities.  His keynote runs about 40 minutes and airs first on Thursday, October 11, at 7 p.m.

Dan Burden is Director of Innovation and Inspiration for Blue Zones, LLC, and is a nationally recognized authority on walkable, livable, and sustainable communities.  His address runs 54 minutes and airs first on Sunday, October 14, at 7 p.m.

Each program features the question and answer session that followed the keynote.  Each program will be encoded for online playback and be available on the City’s website.
