Portions of Northeast Dubuque Impacted by Storm

DUBUQUE, Iowa – This afternoon’s storm caused tree damage in portions of the northeast part of the city of Dubuque.  In addition to heavy rain, the National Weather Service has reported that a “down burst” of wind and/or straight line winds hit the eastern edge of the city near the river around 4:15 p.m.

Tree limbs and 12-15 trees have been reported down on Lincoln, Garfield, and Rhomberg avenues and Queen Street, with one home and several vehicles damaged. 

City staff have been clearing limbs and trees from roadways and all main thoroughfares are expected to be open soon.  Alliant Energy staff has been notified and is responding to areas where power wires are involved.  A power outage has been reported at Miller Riverview Park. 

Residents are reminded to avoid downed power lines and to drive with caution in areas where downed trees are being removed.
