Police Investigate Shots Fired Incident

On 08/25/18 at approximately 11:54 AM, Officers responded to E. 21st St. and White St. for a report of a gunshot fired and a subject injured. Upon arrival Officers located a subject later identified as Romell Davon Enoch, 19, of 7926 S. Sacramento St. Chicago, IL. Enoch ran from Officers but was apprehended after a foot pursuit and found to have a gunshot wound to his right leg. Enoch initially provided a false name to Officers.
Enoch was transported by ambulance to Finley Hospital for treatment. The investigation revealed that Enoch was carrying a handgun in his waistband and accidentally shot himself in the leg. Enoch was found to have an extraditable parole violation warrant out of Illinois. Enoch was treated and released from the hospital and was arrested. Enoch was additionally charged with Interference with Official Acts, Providing False Information, Carrying Weapons, Reckless Use of a Firearm, and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.
Officers did recover a handgun at 22nd and White St. which is believed to be the weapon that caused Enoch’s injury.
