'Getting Ahead in the Workplace' Meet-and-Eat Event on Feb. 15

DUBUQUE, Iowa  – The City of Dubuque is now accepting applications for the next “Getting Ahead^TM  in the Workplace” workshop, sponsored by Dubuque Works. City staff will host an informational meet-and-eat event focused on how the “Getting Ahead” program works, specifically for getting ahead in the workplace. This event is designed for both individuals experiencing work/life instabilities and employers.

The meet-and-eat event will be held on Thursday, Feb. 15, at the Multicultural Family Center, 1157 Central Ave., in Dubuque. Two sessions are available on that date, from 12 p.m. – 1:30 p.m., or from 6 p.m.-7:30 p.m. A free, light meal will be provided. No RSVP is needed to attend either session.

The meet-and-eat event is an opportunity to learn about the “Getting Ahead in the Workplace” personal development workshop, hear from past Getting Ahead participants, and learn how to apply or refer someone for the program. Employers are encouraged to attend to learn more about this program that can lead to increased worker stability, productivity, retention, and morale.

The “Getting Ahead” curriculum is part of the City of Dubuque’s Circles^® Initiative and is designed to assist individuals and families experiencing instabilities in creating a path towards a stable, secure life for themselves and/or their family. Specifically, the “Getting Ahead in the Workplace” curriculum is designed for individuals to learn the hidden rules of the workplace and how to build the necessary resources, relationships, and skills to get ahead.
