Plugged Manhole Causes Sanitary Sewer Overflow

DUBUQUE, Iowa  –  A plugged sanitary sewer manhole on Hill Street near West Seventh Street caused untreated wastewater to flow onto the street and into the storm sewer system.

The City of Dubuque Public Works Department was notified of the overflowing sanitary sewer manhole this morning around 8 a.m.  Crews worked to remove the blockage and flow was directed back into the pipe by 9 a.m.  

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources cautions people to keep their children and pets away from the noted area, which is posted, for forty-eight (48) hours.
