Dubuque Mayor Roy D. Buol will present his 11th annual State of the City address at 7 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 11. The public is encouraged to attend the free event, which will be hosted by the Dubuque chapter of the League of Women Voters.
The address will be held in the City Council Chambers on second floor of the Historic Federal Building at 350 W. Sixth St.
“Combining Real Results and Transformative Vision” will be the theme for Buol’s address. “Community leaders across America are working on behalf citizens to provide safer, stronger, healthier, and more inclusive communities -- and Dubuque is showing real results,” said Buol. “Transformative vision occurs when we balance short-term needs and long-term plans; where we mesh innovation and entrepreneurship; where we build strong consensus, and establish mutual trust.” He said Dubuque’s journey is guided by four pillars: the safety and security of our neighborhoods; fixing crumbling infrastructure; modernizing and expanding our workforce; and creating an equitable community for our citizens.
The event will be broadcast live on CityChannel Dubuque (channels 8 and 117.2 on the Mediacom cable system) and streamed live and archived on the City website at www.cityofdubuque.org/media. DVDs of the program will be available for checkout at the Carnegie-Stout Public Library and from the City of Dubuque Cable TV Division in the City Hall Annex at 1300 Main St. or by calling 563-589-4181.
