16th St. Basin Overlook Now Open

In 2011, the City of Dubuque received a River Enhancement Community Attraction and Tourism (RECAT) grant which included funding for an overlook at the 16th St. Detention Basin. Funding for the project also came from the Iowa Department of Transportation's Transportation Alternatives Program. The basin overlook is now finished and open to the public.

The pavilion overlooks the 16th St. Detention Basin and is located along the trail that runs between Sycamore St. and Kerper Blvd. It features lighting, bike racks, benches, trees, landscaping, and small parking lot. It's a great spot for relaxing, reading a book, practicing yoga, bird watching, or enjoying an ice cream treat. Next time you're out for a walk, bike ride, or drive make sure to stop by check out this new amenity!
