INCIDENT TYPE: Residential Structure Fire
ADDRESS/LOCATION: 2111 Windsor Ave Dubuque
The Dubuque Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call on Sunday, February 16th, 2025, at 6:56 PM from a resident reporting a fire inside their home. The Dubuque Fire Department was dispatched to the scene at 6:56 PM, within seconds of the dispatch center receiving the 911 call. Initial responding vehicles included Engine 506, Engine 503, Engine 501, Command 528, Medic 551, Ladder 511 and Ladder 512. The response brought 16 firefighters in total on the initial alarm. Prior to arrival, dispatch reported approximately 6 occupants currently attempting to exit the residence with multiple pets inside the structure.
The first Dubuque Fire unit, Engine 506, arrived on scene within 3 minutes of dispatch reporting heavy smoke coming from the residence and confirmed a fire within the structure. A fire hose was stretched from the first arriving engine while additional units supported the fire attack efforts by securing a water supply and stretching back up hose lines. The fire was knocked down outside before making entry to finish extinguishment. Crews assisted with salvage and overhaul of the structure and checked for fire extension. Smoke was removed from the structure which was determined to be uninhabitable.
The Dubuque Fire Department was assisted on scene by the Dubuque Police Department, the American Red Cross, and the Dubuque Water Department. 5 children and 1 adult were relocated with 4 dogs who were removed safely from the structure. There were no injuries to responders reported.
The fire is currently under investigation by the Dubuque Fire Department.
