INCIDENT TYPE: Residential Structure Fire
ADDRESS/LOCATION: 1646 Amy Ct. - Dubuque
The Dubuque Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call on Friday, January 17th, 2025, at 3:27 PM from a citizen reporting a fire inside a neighbors home. The Dubuque Fire Department was dispatched to the scene at 3:27 PM, within 22 seconds of receiving the 911 call. Dispatch reported several individuals attempting to remove pets from the home, unsure if the home is occupied. Initial responding vehicles included Engine 502, Engine 503, Engine 505, Engine 506, Command 528, Medic 552, Medic 554, Ladder 511 and Ladder 512. The response brought 22 firefighters in total to the scene.
The first unit, Engine 502, arrived on scene within 4 minutes of dispatch reporting smoke coming from the roof with visible fire. Command 528 arrived on scene and assumed Amy Ct. Command. Engine 502 deployed a hose line into the structure and secured a water supply from a nearby hydrant. The additional arriving companies assisted with fire attack, smoke removal, search and rescue, secured utilities and deployed a backup line. Interior crews were able to bring the fire under control within 20 minutes of arrival. Fire department crews also worked to clear the home of smoke, completed salvage and overhaul operations and confirmed no further fire extension.
The Assistant Fire Marshal determined the fire was accidental in nature and originated in the kitchen, near the stove inside the residence. The home was determined to be uninhabitable, 2 occupants secured relocation options. Losses were estimated at $125,000. Two dogs were located and removed by firefighters, one survived and one did not survive.
The Dubuque Fire Department was assisted on scene by the Dubuque Police Department. There were no injuries to responders reported.
