INCIDENT TYPE:  Vehicle Fire
ADDRESS/LOCATION:  2187 Saint John Dr.

The Dubuque Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call at 10:31 AM on September 30, 2024, from the homeowner of 2187 Saint John Dr. reporting a car fire in their garage. The Dubuque Fire Department was dispatched at 10:32 AM. Initial responding vehicles included Command 528, Engine 502, Engine 503, Engine 505, Ladder 511, and Medic 552. The response brought 15 firefighters on the initial alarm. Command 521 and 524 also responded for support and investigation.

At 10:37, engine 502 arrived on scene, established command, and conducted a size up to find smoke showing and a vehicle inside of an attached garage with a fire in the engine compartment. The 502 crew deployed a preconnected hose line putting water on the fire shortly after arrival. Additional personnel were used to clear the building of smoke and confirmed no further extension within the building. There were no injuries to occupants or firefighters. The fire is currently under investigation. The vehicle is a total loss. The building was determined to be habitable, and all occupants were able to return to their units. 

The Dubuque Fire Department was assisted on scene by the Dubuque Police Department. There were no injuries to responders reported.
