Holiday Adjustments to City of Dubuque Trash, Recycling Collection Schedule

Due to Christmas and New Year’s Day falling on Mondays this holiday season, the City of Dubuque Public Works Department is making slight adjustments to its trash and recycling collection schedule. These changes will only impact residents on Monday collection routes. 

Regular Monday collections will be performed as scheduled on Monday, December 18. There will be no collections on Monday, Dec. 25. Those collections will be made on the preceding Saturday, Dec. 23.  There will also be no collections made on Monday, Jan. 1. Those collections will be made on the preceding Saturday, Dec. 30. The next regular Monday collection will happen on Monday, Jan. 8. 

Residents are reminded to have their trash tipper carts and recycling containers set out by 6 a.m. on the collection day. Tipper carts need to be positioned with the arrows on the tops of the carts pointing to the street. Carts should be placed with two feet of empty space between the carts and any nearby vehicles, poles, trees, or other trash carts. In the event of snow, carts should be placed on a level surface that has been cleared of snow.
